Junior Plate Evaporator Basic Plant

The evaporator is designed for continuous evaporation of liquid products in laboratory and pilot plant scale as well as in small scale production.

 

The evaporator consists of a preheating system comprising two plate heat exchangers, a plate type evaporator, vapour separator and an indirect condenser built as a shell and tube heat exchanger. The feed is introduced to the feed tank. From the feed tank the feed is pumped by the feed pump through the preheating system where the feed is heated by means of steam condensate and process condensate. From the preheating system the feed enters the evaporation unit where the evaporation takes place according to the rising film principle.

 

The mixture of concentrated feed and vapour leaving the evaporator is separated in a tangential separator from where the concentrate is partially re-circulated over the evaporator and pumped back to the feed tank or to further processing. The vapours from the top of the separator is condensed in an indirect condensator by means of cooling water. The evaporator is heated by direct low pressure steam to the evaporator unit. Process condensate and steam condensate are extracted separately by two pumps enabling measure of the evaporation rate accurately.
